Right click the 'Wrapper' and pick 'Show Package Contents'ġ7. The Wrapper will select this, if not, do it manually.
When installing a DOSBox GOG game, the executable will be DOSBox.exe. However, we can not skip this step, so pick an 'Executable'. This is needed to run the game in the Wrapper. The Wrapper will ask you to pick an 'Executable'. Again, we ONLY want to run the installation, NOT the game, since the game might not work in this Engine.ġ4. Once installed, DO NOT press 'Launch', press 'Exit Installer'. Wait for the Wrapper to start running the GOG installer. You will now see your Wrapper in the finder. The 'Wrapper' will disappear from your dock and Wineskin Winery will pop up a window. Now the 'Wrapper' will ask you to install 'Gecko'. I'll be installing 'Syndicate', so I will call my Wrapper 'Syndicate'. To avoid confusion name it after the application/game you're wanting to install. Now we will create the 'Wrapper' to run the application.Ħ.
So at this point you have an Engine and a Wrapper version. If no Wrapper Version is shown, you need to press 'Update' and install 'Wineskin-2.5.5' This is displayed under your current installed Engines. Once this is done, you will have successfully installed an Engine.Ĥ. Using this method, you will not need to do any Trial and Error, because the game is not run inside the Engine, but inside DosBox for Mac or Boxer for Mac.ģ. The game itself will run in DosBox for Mac or Boxer for Mac.
In this tutorial we will be making a wrapper to install the game, but not to run the game. This means you have to pick an Engine, create a 'Wrapper' to run the game/application in, test it and do all this again when it does not work. There are a lot of Wineskin Engines and not every game/application works great with every Engine. It 'wraps' the Windows application in a 'Wrapper' and runs the application. 'Wineskin' runs Windows applications on your Macintosh. You might have seen posts on this forum about 'Wineskin'. There is however, an easy and free solution. This means that Windows is needed to install these games. One of the 'downsides' is that GOG offers. Mac users can run these games using the Macintosh version of Dosbox or by using Boxer, another DOS emulator. One of the great things about GOG is that many games run in DOS. I have no idea if a guide like this already exists.
